WRITING

The Several Names of Milo Mitts, a novel.

Milo is terror-stricken. He’s on the lam, hundreds of miles from home. And he has no idea how long he’ll be forced to live in the woods, trying to evade the authorities and outwit the sociopath on his trail. Also, he’s afraid of the dark. It’s a lot for an eight-year-old.
Literary Fiction - 78,000 words.

Carousels of Progress, another novel.

A sprawling, breathless shitshow of insomnia, desperation, and baseball cards. Set on the Lower East Side at the turn of the twenty-first century, it's a picaresque tale of a North American adult who's hanging onto adolescence by his fingernails.
Literary Fiction - 160,000 words.

PODCASTS

 Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen

A ten-part thrill ride obsessed with hunting down one of the most prolific and bizarre scam artists in recent memory. I produced this show with Campside Media. Named "Best of 2020" by Spotify, Stitcher, Rolling Stone, and more. Available in all the places.

Created and hosted by Josh Dean & Vanessa Grigoriadis.

TELEVISION

The Who Was? Show

A Netflix series for kids that brings the best-selling historical biographies to life with comedy and music. I was a writer and songwriter on this terrific show that ran one season, got nominated for six Emmys, and was promptly canceled. Still streaming, though, as far as I know.

With Andrew Daley, John Hodgman, Sarah Vowell.
Written by Richard Korson, Brian McCann, Elliott Kalan, Delaney Yeager, Brian Clark, Eric Gilliland, and myself.

Men of a Certain Age

This was a gorgeous, dramatic, funny, series on TNT. I made all the music the second (and last) season. Now I miss it. We won a Peabody Award for our trouble.

With Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula.
Mike Royce ran the show.

FILM

Paper Man

Paper Man has been described as a coming-of-middle-age story.  It's funny and gorgeous and and it sneaks up on you in the most beguiling of ways.  Released in 2011, it is (obviously) near and dear to my heart.  Find a way to see it!  I composed the score and several of the songs and enjoyed every minute of the work.

Starring Jeff Daniels, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Lisa Kudrow, Emma Stone, Kieran Culkin, Eric Gilliland.
Written & Directed by Kieran and Michele Mulroney.
Original Music by Mark McAdam, as you might have guessed.

Pool Party

An exploration of (recently reopened) McCarren Pool in Williamsbug, Brooklyn, this is a surprising and fascinating documentary.  You probably know the place from all the concerts held there in the past decade but you probably don't know about its controversial history and its usefulness as a symbol for gentrification and racism.

With performances by Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, MGMT, The Hold Steady, and many more.
Directed by Beth Aala, Executive Producer Morgan Spurlock
Original Music by Mark McAdam

God Grew Tired of Us

A jaw-dropping documentary about the "Lost Boys" of Sudan and their epic journey to the U.S.  This film won both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.

Narrated by Nicole Kidman.
Original Music by Mark McAdam & Others.
Directed by Christopher Quinn, Executive Producer Brad Pitt.

Dante's Inferno

A bizarre, goofy, and twisted take on the classic.  Rendered in 2D puppets in a post-modern underworld all created by the mad genius Sandow Birk.

Starring: Dermot Mulroney, James Cromwell, Martha Plimpton, Paul Zaloom, Laura Krafft, many more.
Directed by Sean Meredith.
Original Music by Mark McAdam

In Smog and Thunder

Based around Sandow Birk's epic series of paintings about a fictional war between Northern & Southern California.  Couched as a Ken Burns style documentary, it is hilarious and mind-boggling.

Directed by Sean Meredith.
Original Music by Mark McAdam & others.

You can also hear music by Mark McAdam in Grey's Anatomy, Californication, Men in Trees, Malcolm in the Middle, Addiction, The Music in Me, Saving Our Tomorrow, HBO's Alzheimers Project, Made in Boise, Van Wilder, The Ex, Free Enterprise and many more that I can't remember/too embarrassed to list right now.
